Olaf Petersen's collection of curiosities

It is an unique event with extraordinary disciplines and (at least to the same extent) an extraordinary audience. The visitors flood into the arena hours before the first class begins. Families spread their picnic on a blanket; others bring folding chairs and still others a good bottle of wine, beer or lemonade. But all of them bring their passion for all they find here: a competition of countless special moments.

Hats off!
I just couldn't ignore them. They stuck out of the audience, slid through the event, were an eye-catcher and nearly stole the performance on the field the show: Hats! Once elegant and noble, another time simple or stylishly ornamented; once decorated with a rose and once with a ribbon – and always a piece of art parading on a just as artistic hair due. And the headdresses I present here are definitely not old hat!

A jump back in time

One feels set back into another century. Right into the time when a real lady would have "worn the pants at home", but would never have presented herself in one for real.

Not even horseback riding.
In my long career as a course designer, Devon was my absolute first watching side-saddle hunter competitions – and I was deeply impressed. The ladies jumped the obstacles perfectly balanced, their legs draped on the left side of the saddle and the many layers of clothes fluttering in the wind.
It was without question a spectacle that has no equal!

Dressage riding – just a bit different

The horse with a highly raised tale, the rider himself with highly raised hands and the legs pushed up front: Forget the things you thought you knew about dressage riding. The discipline "Five-Gaited Horses" allows everything that the classical training forbids.

And in the end here too will be a winner. One, who performs the same as his competitors and still does it all so very differently!
