Sand
OTTO Riding Ground System:
"The Secret is under the sand"
Either during the World Equestrian Games in Aachen and the Asian Games in Qatar or at the Olympic centre in Akita (Japan), OTTO-Riding Ground System cares for the best underground throughout the world.
The decisive advantages:
- high stability of the footing layer
- Drainage through water retention systems
- good water permeability
- optimal elasticity
- interconnected mats
- Long Durability
The footing layer:
Being a company working on a worldwide scale, OTTO®-Sport-INTERNATIONAL works with local materials and uses his 25 years experience in the development of sport- and riding ground system on five continents.
Mixture of the footing layer:
For the creation of the footing layer, OTTO uses geotextiles; synthetic fibres. They guarantee the required elasticity of the sand, the absorption of water and its return in the footing layer, to keep a longer humidity.
Gras
John Weier

|
John Weier likes it green. That's the reason
why this man from Luxembourg has done everything
to make the grass for show jumping sport more attractive. In contrast
to sand surfaces, grass used to be considered a surface which was
impossible to control. By means of a special drainage system and the
use of Lavasand, John Weier has managed to convince the best riders
and course designers in the world. |
Show jumping arenas such as Monterey or Donaueschingen now have even
more in common with the tennis stadium in Wimbledon. The winners of
the horse shows there not only count amongst the top sports people
in the world, they also win on grass. Thanks to John Weier. |

1) and 2):
A good riding surface is the basis for good jumping. John Weier has
revolutionized grass surfaces. Of course, he knows a lot about sand
too. |
